ABSTRACT

The study titled “Senior High School Students’ Perceptions on Artificial Intelligence as a Threat to Future Job Opportunities” examined how students view the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on employment. As AI continues to transform industries, concerns about job displacement and career uncertainty have increased, especially among youth entering the workforce. Researchers aimed to understand whether students perceive AI as a threat to traditional jobs or a catalyst for new opportunities, and how awareness shapes these views. Using a quantitative-descriptive design, 164 students from Balayan Senior High School were surveyed. Data were analyzed through frequency, percentage, and weighted mean. Results showed mixed perceptions: many feared AI might replace human jobs, particularly repetitive ones, while others saw potential for new roles in tech, data science, and digital industries. Students familiar with AI tools like ChatGPT had more optimistic views, seeing AI as a tool for innovation. Those with limited knowledge were more anxious and held misconceptions. This highlights the need to integrate AI literacy into the curriculum. Researchers recommend structured programs that promote digital literacy, career readiness, and ethical understanding of AI. By fostering awareness and future-proof skills, schools can empower students to thrive in a job market shaped by AI and innovation.
