ABSTRACT

The study aimed to know more about the viability of modular print distance learning modality as basis for an improved Basic Education - Learning Continuity Plan among public elementary school teachers of District 3 in Batangas City. Likewise, it covered the description of modular printed distance learning in terms of its content and appropriateness, the level of appropriateness in terms of preparation, delivery and assessment. In addition to these, the present study looked into the challenges encountered by the teachers in the implementation of modular learning modalities.

This study used the descriptive method of research from which the questions included in the survey questionnaire were crafted based on the readings from various concepts on modular printed learning. The main data gathering instrument was the researcher-made questionnaire from which the data gathered were tallied and treated with statistical tool such as the weighted mean.

Based from the results, the viability of printed modular distance learning delivery emphasizes time on task as agreed by the respondents as to content Giving learners a chance to understand the materials by themselves as feature in terms of appropriateness. Designing the distribution and retrieval was interpreted to a great extent relative to preparation, while Coordination with parents, guardians as partner teachers in terms of delivery obtained the highest mean score. Providing learners with worksheet, ranked number 1 in terms of assessment. Meanwhile, training provided for teachers to re-skill in terms of modular print distance learning is one of the main challenges that emerged in its’ implementation. On the other hand, numerous activities embedded in each module is another challenge not just for teachers but also to learners.

From these, the present study recommends that the proposed guidelines for an improved modular printed distance learning in BE-LCP must be utilized to enhance modular learning delivery embedded in the school learning continuity plan. Training and workshops must be conducted by the Department of Education for all teachers in various platforms that could be appropriate to their modalities. Reducing the activities by lessening unnecessary topics were also recommended so that mastery will be attained as much as possible.
