ABSTRACT
The study investigates the level of awareness of Outcomes-based Education concept among sophomore Marine Engineering and Marine Transportation maritime students of West Bay College in Alabang, Muntinlupa City. The study used a descriptive method of research where qualitative data were collected using survey questionnaire. Research was done on forty-six (46) maritime students of West Bay College. The data on the level of awareness of OBE was collected through a designed closed ended questionnaire consisting of 80 items. The questionnaire collected data on the level of understanding of the different teaching approach of Out-comes based education such as Cooperative Learning approach, Socio drama, role playing, Experiential Learning, Microteaching, exploring Community resources, Student research and project. It was observed that there is significant difference in the level of awareness among the BS Marine Engineering and BS Marine Transformation sophomore students. The research was limited to the West Bay College Maritime Students and the level of Awareness of Out-comes-based Education in other Maritime School was not studied. The research paper attempts to highlight the level of Awareness of the concept of OBE and emphasize the need and what teaching approach is needed in education Maritime students and emphasize the need of faculty members on Outcomes-based Education in teaching.
