STUDENTS' THEMATIC ANALYSIS ON THE WELL-BEING AND ITS EFFECTS OF THE DEMOLITION

OF RESIDENTIAL PROPERTIES ALONG THE RAILROADS

ABSTRACT

This qualitative study explores the students’ thematic analysis on the well-being and its effects of the demolition of residential properties along the railroads in Barangay Paciano Rizal, Bay Laguna, Likewise, it aimed to determine how the schedule demolition affected people’s property and their overall well-being during the relocation process? and how urban development initiatives important among the residents? There were 50 participants that non-randomly selected from the affected families. The researchers conducted an in-depth face to face interviews using structured questionnaire. Findings revealed that there were diverse ranges of opinions on the demolition which effects of at least 40 (80%) out of 50 thematically analyzed that the participants perceived that “the schedule demolition has an overwhelmingly negative effect among the residents in terms of social and cultural well being”. It was concluded that the majority of the participants agreed that such urban development initiatives are complex and emphasizing the need for progressive monitoring, adaptation of a good planning and programs in shaping future community. Recommendations suggested that the further assessment and evaluations should be conducted on the part of the implementing agencies, meetings and constant communication should be addressed properly specially for those affected residents. Lastly, genuine community involvement in the decision-making processes of urban development should foster to a sustainable and community-friendly institution.
