SCHOOL LEADER MANAGEMENT PRACTICES IN HANDLING EVACUEES AFFECTED BY TAAL

ABSTRACT

This qualitative research report presented the actual phenomenon of school head management practices   of SDO- Batangas in handling affected individuals of Taal volcano eruption. Seventeen School leaders (17) served as the participants of the study. A monitoring tool was prepared and used by the researcher to quantify and qualify the school leader’s management practices in handling evacuees affected by this disaster.

An Interviews were conducted to appraised school selected randomly as basis for collection procedures and data analysis. The researchers tabulated, coded and categorized raw data into recurring themes. Finding revealed that the majority of the respondents focused their management practices which was categorized into sanitation and hygiene. organizing of evacuees, cleanliness and orderliness of the school as evacuation center, food, drink and water supply, relief distribution, security and safety, and volunteer’s participation.

 In the interpretation of the responses given by the informants of the study, the results revealed that the school has no particular personnel to handle psychosocial support to the evacuees particularly to the displaced learners of the division, The study suggests that a need to train and develop the knowledge and skills of teachers in conducting psychological support is a necessity particularly those school   used as evacuation center.
