ABSTRACT

This study explored the relationship between parental involvement and entrepreneurial interest of young business owners among senior high school students in Balayan, Batangas. It aimed to determine how parental involvement influences students’ interest in entrepreneurship. Using quantitative-descriptive research design, data were collected from 132 senior high school students through a structured survey questionnaire employing a 4-point likert scale. The findings showed that the level of parental involvement strongly influences students’ entrepreneurial interests (GWA= 3.37). Parents who provide emotional, financial, and business exposure significantly inspire their children to pursue entrepreneurship (GWA= 3.42). It is also revealed that parental guidance and participation in business-related activities enhance students’ entrepreneurial mindset, creativity, and confidence (GWA= 3.45). Furthermore, students highly perceive their parents as role models who motivate them to engage in business (GWA= 3.41). Based on the overall weighted means, students strongly agreed that parental involvement plays a huge role in developing entrepreneurial skills and aspirations among students. The study concludes that active parental participation contributes to strengthening the entrepreneurial culture among the youth in Balayan. It recommends that parents should provide more business exposure, emotional and financial support, and must serve as a role model to inspire their children to pursue entrepreneurship.
