ABSTRACT

This study entitled Oregano Extract as Repellant Bar Soap for Mosquitoes, sought to answer the following questions; What is the method used in making Oregano Extract as Soap Repellant for mosquitoes?, What is the level of acceptability of the Oregano repellant soap as evaluated by the respondents in terms of texture, scent/aroma, color, shelf life and efficacy?, What is the overall level of acceptability of Oregano Extract Bar Soap as rated by the different group of respondents?, Is there any significant difference on the assessment made by the group of respondents in the acceptability of Oregano repellant soap?.

This study employed the experimental methods of research to determine the acceptability of Oregano Bar Soap as Repellant Soap for Mosquitoes. Experimental methods of research to determine the acceptability of Oregano Extract as Repellant bar soap for Mosquitoes in terms of texture, scent/aroma, color, shelf life and efficacy.

The respondent of the study were composed of 15) teachers from Senior High School (15) students from Balibago Senior High City of Santa Rosa Laguna, and (15) housewives of Brgy. Balibago Santa Rosa Laguna. The responses of the respondents were gathered through the use of questionnaires as the main tool for investigation. The level of acceptability/efficacy of Oregano Bar Soap, was rated in Terms of texture, scent/aroma, color, shelf life and efficacy as perceived by 45 respondents.

The process of preparing Oregano Bar Soap was in order of the preparation of materials and utensils, measuring the ingredients, mixing, pouring, molding, ageing, packaging and labeling.

The overall acceptability of Oregano Extract as repellant soap for mosquitoes in terms of texture, scent/aroma, color, shelf life and efficacy. The ratings for oregano bar soap in terms texture, scent/aroma, color, shelf life and efficacy, is verbally interpreted as Highly Acceptable.

Conclusion

Based on the analysis of data presented, the ratings of the three respondents meant that was there is no significant difference which exist in ratings given by the three different groups of evaluators in any of the criterion for evaluation on the acceptability Oregano Bar Soap in terms of texture, scent/aroma, color, shelf life and efficacy. Therefore, the hypothesis was highly accepted.

Recommendations

In view of the summary and conclusions of the study, the following recommendations are offered.

1. The oregano extract bar soap may undergo chemical analysis to determine their side effects.

2. Housewives may venture to this kind of study on how to make Oregano bar soap as part of their bar soap making business.

3. The community people and students may cultivate Oregano in their localities for soap making venture and for dengue prevention.

4. An entrepreneur can also venture in the business of making Oregano Bar Soap as repellant soap.

5. The future researcher may improve the products using Oregano extract as repellant soap.
