ABSTRACT

This study was conducted to assess research skills of learners in Lemery Senior High school in writing research. The study employed the descriptive research design to further explain and describe the phenomenon in the study. The researcher involved 344 students who are taking research subjects such as Practical Research I, Practical Research II and 3Is.

The descriptive method of research was used with the questionnaire as the main data gathering tool. The frequency, mean, percentage and correlation were the statistical tool employed to treat the data gathered.

This study revealed that the respondents agreed they attained the learning competencies in teaching research subject such as identifying problem, writing related literature, designing research method, interpreting data and summarizing data. Also, different strategies were used by the learners in teaching the subject. On the other hand, respondents agreed that they encountered various difficulties in teaching research subject. In connection to this, the proposed research project was made to enhance the research skills of the learners. The said program focused on different activities that the school can implement in order for the students to enhanced their writing research skills as for this is one of the mot important learning they have to acquire which they can be used to make innovation fir various problems that may arise.
