FILIPINO LANGUAGE, MIRROR OF PHILIPPINE CULTURE

by: MARY GRACE C. MANTE

· Volume V Issue I

I am a Filipino,

I speak my language,

Cebuano, Tagalog, and Surigaonon.

With my love of Surigaonon culture.

I live in Surigao,

I speak Surigaonon,

I enjoy our culture,

especially the Bonok-Bonok Festival.

Filipino is the national language,

mirror of unique culture,

where every city and municipality enjoys festivals,

and celebrations of rich customs and traditions.

I speak Cebuano,

since I was born and grow up

in a small town and municipality,

named Jimenez, Misamis Occidental.

I speak Surigaonon,

for half of my life,

stayed in Surigao City

with rich culture and traditions.

I speak Tagalog,

when I need to communicate

with different people around the country,

to understand them better and their culture.

I enjoy traveling and

love listening to every uttered word,

from people across the town,

and mimic their language.

I am Filipino,

I speak the Filipino language,

it is the mirror of my unique and rich culture,

that I am really proud of.
