ABSTRACT
Introduction
Leadership and management are highly interrelated chattels, these two cannot be dichotomized. While these two are so powerful, yet they cannot be used interchangeably. Leadership is the power to influence the behavior of the subordinates to make the result oriented. Management is the concern on how one can become effective and sufficient in their area of authority and responsibility. Leadership is leading people while management is managing things. Leaders do the right things while managers do things right.
Leaders set the style and tone for achieving and for motivating people to sacrifice for the attainment of the vision. Managers execute and achieve the mission. Their concern lie with the details and the day to day toil, without which, a vision cannot become a reality.
Leadership can be seen as performing the influencing function of management, largely involved in goal setting and motivating people to achieve them. Leaders decide where we are going and influence people to take that particular direction, rather than describe how we are not necessarily good organizers and excellent managers. The most effective managers are also leaders, and the quality of leadership has become an increasingly important part of management ability.
As one begins to think more in terms of importance, he begins to see time differently. He becomes empowered to put first in his life in a significant way”. Think Win/Win.” For anyone to have victory one should think to always win. For anyone to have victory one should think to always win. To decide one may have any of the following decision: Win/Win scenario, this is focus on character, relationship, agreements, systems and process. To win is always the fight of a good leader. Finally, it is Win/Win or No Deal.
Conceptual Framework of the Study
This study is anchored on the “Correlates of Leadership and Management Competencies Among School Administrators in the Division of Cagayan de Oro: Basis for Management Program”. This concept is fasten that Leadership and Management is a systematic application of common sense strategies and techniques to help one become more effective in both his personal and professional life. Leadership and management accompanying promise is to become productive, faster, effective and efficient with economy while decreasing the level of anxiety, stress and pressure on what one feels about the opposite rudiments of Leadership and Management. However, base on theories, leadership and management systems don’t deliver the promised results immediately.
