UTILIZATION OF TWO-WAY RADIO IN BRIDGING THE GAP OF COMMUNICATION BETWEEN PARENTS AND TEACHERS IN  THE NEW NORMAL

ABSTRACT

This research is qualitative narrative design which evaluated the utilization of two- way radio in bridging the gap of communication between parents and teachers. In-depth interview was conducted with respondents of 10 parents and guardians who were directly benefited from the implementation of two-way radio for almost 6 months.

Based on their experience during the implementation of the said research study, the respondents were very grateful and thankful that positively resulted to the three (3) themes based on respondent’s experiences such as (1) realization in monitoring of students’ performances and tasks, ensuring that deadlines and submissions were accomplished, and autonomous and working child for parental involvement to student learning progress. Next, (2) encouragement to parents to speak up for the need of their children progress, communicate frequently and in the way that works best for each family, and share power with families and students when working to improve the school for the effect of parent-teacher communication to students’ progress. Lastly, (3) user friendly, easy to use with multiple calls possible, and instant connection, no wait time or busy signal coming from the respondents stand on the use of two-way radio in communication.

This study concluded and recommended to continue the implementation on the use of two-way radio in bridging the gap of communication between parents and teachers as well as to sustain and purchase more units of two-way radio to make it 1:1 ratio of material. Thus, the school administrator together with the researchers planned to discuss this study to the different stakeholders.
