ABSTRACT
This study aimed to develop and assess the usability and perceived effectiveness of the Interactive E-Rubric for Parent-Led Assessment in supporting school readiness among Kindergarten learners in Brgy. Anilao, Lipa City. Specifically, the study examined the usability of the tool in terms of learnability, clarity, and utility, as well as its impact on parents’ confidence in preparing their children for formal schooling. An explanatory sequential mixed-methods research design was employed, combining quantitative and qualitative approaches to provide a comprehensive analysis of the tool’s effectiveness. The respondents of the study were 13 purposively selected parents of incoming Kindergarten learners. Data were gathered through a self-made survey questionnaire administered online.
Furthermore, the findings revealed that the Interactive E-Rubric was highly usable and accessible for parent-users. Parents strongly agreed that the tool was easy to navigate, understandable, and practical for home use. The “Summer Action Plan” was also perceived as effective in providing immediate and actionable learning activities that support children’s developmental needs. In addition, the results showed that the E-Rubric strengthened parents’ confidence and engagement, allowing them to feel more prepared and capable in supporting their child’s learning and communicating with teachers.
Moreover, qualitative findings highlighted that the most helpful features of the tool included its step-by-step guidance, user-friendly interface, clear assessment criteria, and alignment with developmental standards under the MATATAG Curriculum. Although minor difficulties were encountered in understanding some technical terms and performance descriptors, the majority of parents found the tool clear, effective, and beneficial in supporting home-based learning.
In conclusion, the Interactive E-Rubric for Parent-Led Assessment proved to be a practical and user-friendly digital assessment tool that enhances parental involvement, strengthens homeschool collaboration, and supports children’s school readiness through guided and feedback-driven learning interventions.
