THE INSTRUCTIONAL PERFORMANCE OF PUBLIC ELEMENTARY SCHOOL TEACHERS IN RELATION TO THE SUPERVISORY SKILLS OF SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS AT BALAYAN WEST SUB-OFFICE,

ABSTRACT

This study was undertaken to determine the level of instructional performance of teachers in relation to the supervisory skills of school administrators in the public elementary schools of Balayan West Sub-Office, Division of Batangas during the school year 2023-2024 as perceived by the teachers and school administrators themselves.

Specifically, this study aimed to find answers to the following questions:

1. What is the level of the instructional performance of teachers as perceived by themselves and school administrators in terms of:

1.1 knowledge of the subject matter;

1.2 utilization of instructional, techniques and methods;

1.3 student-learning;

1.4 classroom management and discipline; and

1.5 evaluation of learning outcome?

2. How do the school administrators perform their supervisory practices along the following skills as perceived by themselves and teachers along the following:

2.1 leadership;

2.2 human relation;

2.3 group process;

2.4 personnel management; and

2.5 evaluation skills?

3. Is there a significant difference in the perception of the teachers and school administrators on:

3.1 instructional performance of teachers; and

3.2 supervisory practices of school administrators?

4. Is there significant relationship between the instructional performance of teachers and supervisory performance of school administrators?

5. What plan of action may be proposed to enhance the instructional performance of the teachers?

The researcher employed the descriptive method of research and the questionnaire was the main data-gathering instrument. The respondents involved in the study were 129 public elementary school teachers and 13 public school administrators. The statistical tools applied in treating the data were the weighted mean, t-test and coefficient of correlation. The null hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance.
