ABSTRACT
This study entitled “Senior High School Students’ Perception on College Readiness Based on Their Self-Assessments and Expectations” aimed to determine how Grade 12 students of Balayan Senior High School perceive their preparedness for college. Specifically, it sought to assess their academic, emotional, and social readiness, along with their expectations toward higher education. A quantitative-descriptive research design to analyze and interpret the data. The questionnaires distributed through Google Forms served as the primary tool, with responses gathered from 65 selected Grade 12 students under Balayan Senior High School. Data were analyzed, and interpreted using descriptive statistical tools such as weighted mean, and composite mean. Most students are prepared for college. They demonstrated confidence in study habits, time management, and problem-solving skills. On the other hand, they expressed lower confidence in critical thinking and emotional maturity. Results also showed that emotional and mental preparedness, financial stability, and adaptability are crucial factors influencing college readiness. Based on the results, the researchers concluded that while students are generally prepared for college, they still require further development in life skills, stress management, and socio-emotional growth to ensure a smoother transition to higher education. The researchers also recommend that schools strengthen their guidance and support programs to enhance students’ overall readiness for future academic and personal challenges.
