The study determined the compliance of schools in the operation and management of canteen in 2nd Congressional District of Batangas for school year 2024-2025. The quantitative research design was utilized in the study employing descriptive method of research. The data were obtained from sixty (60) respondents of six (6) cities/municipalities in the 2nd congressional district of Batangas which comprise of canteen managers/teacher-in-charge, S.Y. 2024-2025. The data were statistically treated using weighted mean and product moment correlation coefficient.
The findings of the study reveal that respondents’ assessment clearly reflects the strong agreement on the effectiveness of school canteen management in relation to personnel, funding, and facilities. Canteen teachers are highly compliant on food safety standards which indicate effectiveness on the operation and management of canteen prioritizing food safety practices. In addition, there are no significant relationships established between the level of compliance in safety standards relative to canteen management in terms of personnel and facilities. However, significant relationship was found when funding variable is considered for compliance to safety standards. The respondents perceive that the problems encountered in managing the school canteen are relatively minor, suggesting that, while challenges may exist, they are not significant enough to hinder the overall operation of the canteen. Based on the findings of the study, a school canteen management plan was proposed to improve school canteen operation.
Moreover, recommendations are proposed such as providing continuous training development programs for canteen personnel in the areas of customer relations, food handling techniques, hygiene practices, and food safety regulations. Strengthen fund generation and allocation to sustain efficient financial management on canteen operation. Improve further the facilities and equipment of the canteen for delivery of quality products and services. Maintain high compliance and strict adherence to food safety standards and implement the proposed school canteen management plan to improve school canteen operation. Further, continuous evaluation and refinement of the proposed school canteen management plan to improve the school canteen operation.
