POOR WASTE MANAGEMENT IN PADRE GARCIA
NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL

ABSTRACT

The main purpose of this study is to determine the factors that affect the proper waste management and the level of implementation of waste management in Padre Garcia National High School. The participants of the study are three hundred twenty-two (322) students were used as the respondents, based from Slovin’s formula. Using mixed method of research, research-made questionnaire and interview as data gathering instrument were used. The results of the study revealed that he wastes produced by the school are mostly white and colored paper, plastic wrapper, plastic bottles, dried leaves and left over foods. The factors that affect the proper waste management are the following: the first factor is undisciplined students. Second factor was the availability and accessibility of garbage; third factor was lack of information about proper waste management. The last factor was poor monitoring of teachers. The level of implementation of waste management in school is moderately practiced. This implies that the school needs to enhance the awareness of students and teachers in proper waste management.
