FILIPINO, A LANGUAGE WITH A SOUL

by: JOAN S. ALMAGRO

· Volume V Issue I

I am your national language,

From the land of your homage,

I am a language that evolves with age

And you can use me not with rage but with sage.

Yes! I am your language with a soul,

The reflection of beliefs and culture as a whole,

It mirrors our life in the past,

That would surely forever last.

Filipino is my name,

That will always be the same,

And for thousand years I must remain,

For in this country I’ll never be in vain.

I am a language with a soul,

Which foreign influence can’t control,

The roots of our culture thrive in our soil,

Which no invaders could ever spoil.

History unfolds the events of old,

Which language and culture are worthy to behold,

To us Filipinos who always uphold,

The dignity of this country in stronghold.

For the mantle of our fatherland

is the rich culture lies in our hands,

That brings honor in our land,

Preserve and confirmed by time,

Of our ancestors and heroes entwine.
