ENRICHING GRADE 4 PUPILS PERFORMANCE IN INDUSTRIAL ARTS- BASIC MEASUREMENT USING LOCALIZED ACTIVITY SHEETS

ABSTRACT
Pupils’ skills on basic measurement were the starting point for this action research. The purpose of this study is to develop and use localized activity sheets to enrich the Grade Four pupils’ performance in Industrial Arts- Basic Measurement of Malainin Elementary School, Ibaan, Batangas. Descriptive survey design was adopted with a population of 38 pupils. A questionnaire was used and the data collected were analyzed with mean and teacher observation. The findings showed that: 1) localized activity sheets have both product and process, an integration of learning and assessment, 2) localized activity sheets could also facilitate the development of social interaction of pupils such as working together, and upgrade skills in hands-on activity, 3) localized activity sheets could be implemented with the supervision of the teacher. This study is limited to basic measurement using the English and Metric System. Localized activity sheets were crafted, comprising the developmental structure of measurement. It also includes tasks that indicate attitudes towards class, thoughts on personal progress, strength and weaknesses-what to improve. The study has presented an effective approach towards enriching pupils’ performance in Industrial Arts- Basic Measurement.
