ABSTRACT

The Corona Virus Disease (COVID) -19 pandemic had impacted the lives of humans worldwide and vastly devastated the education sector, as well. Thus, face-to-face learning had been prohibited. Along with the implementation of the Basic Education Learning Continuity Plan (BE-LCP) for the School Year 2020-2021, school leaders have faced many responsibilities in the management of the school. This study adopts Fayol’s General Administrative Theory and the Systems Theory. This study investigated the crisis management practices of the Public Secondary Schools Heads of Legazpi City Division involving assistant principals, teachers, parents, and GPTA presidents. It determines the management practices of the school heads in the new normal along with instructional leadership, school leadership, management and operations, and human resource management and development. Findings showed that the school heads have successfully implemented the BE-LCP amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. During this period, the school heads highly observed the crisis management practices involving human resource management and development; school leadership, management and operations, and instructional leadership. In the implementation of crisis management, the most challenging domain is school leadership, management, and operations. To alleviate the challenges encountered, a crisis management plan should intensify adaptation, communication, and collaboration. It was recommended that modification of the recommended crisis management plan can be done through a research-based activity.
