COMPETENCY LEVEL OF SECONDARY TEACHERS AND PERFORMANCE OF LEARNERS IN ARALING PANLIPUNAN: BASIS FOR TRAINING PROGRAM

This study aimed to determine the level of professional competence of secondary junior high school “Araling Panlipunan” teachers in the Division of Cavite. The respondents were one education program supervisor, 56 school heads, 32 master teachers and 180 teachers. It employed descriptive – correlational design.

Percentage, Weighted Mean, Likert Scale, Ranking, ANOVA and Chi Square Test were used for the statistical analysis of the data and was facilitated by the Paleontological Statistical software version 3.14.

The results revealed that Araling Panlipunan Teachers were competent in teaching the subject as indicated by the overall mean of 3.88. The researcher proposed a professional training program in order to capacitate the teachers in terms of content and strategies in teaching the subject in which it is expected to improve learners’ performance.
