ABSTRACT
A major concern among educators today is the inconsistent parental involvement in pupils' homework, particularly in the Philippine context where varying socio-economic conditions often hinder active support at home. Without adequate parental engagement, pupils may encounter challenges in understanding lessons, completing assignments, and maintaining motivation factors that negatively affect their academic performance. In response to this issue, the researcher conducted a study to investigate the correlation between parental involvement in homework and pupils’ academic achievement and independence. The study employed the descriptive method of research, involving thirty-seven (37) respondents from Grades 1 to 6. Most of the participants were from Grade 6, and the majority were female. Findings revealed that respondents agreed parental involvement significantly improves academic outcomes and supports the development of student independence. Furthermore, the study found no significant difference in the perceived impact of parental involvement when categorized by grade level, sex, and economic status. Based on the results, the researcher developed Guided Learning Activity Sheets to promote effective home-based academic support.
