Parent involvement is very essential because it contributes to the success of the children in academics and extracurricular aspects. Parent’s participation in school activities has been one of the most important topics of the present research and this study is about how parent’s non- involvement in school activities such as parent teacher conference affects the academic performance of the learners and what strategies are to be used to motivate them and make them attend school activities at Kaylaway II Elementary School.

The objective of this study is to identify the reasons why parents do not attend school activities and its impact to their children. School administrator and teachers face challenges related to reaching parents in positive ways, implementing strategies that will result in improving students’ achievement and balancing the needs of the parents.

The descriptive method of research was used by the researcher which made use questionnaires in gathering the necessary data to show the reasons why parents do not get involved in school activities such as in parent teacher conference.

The respondents of this study were thirty-eight (38) parents and eight (8) teachers including the school head of Kaylaway II Elementary School. The respondents were chosen purposively. The data gathered will be tallied, tabulated, analyzed and interpreted to have the findings in which the conclusion and recommendations will be drawn.

The paper also discovered the reasons why parents do not participate in school activities and how does it affects to their children when it comes to the academic performances.

The study recommends that the parents should ask somebody like eldest child or a relative to attend the school activities that will represent them. The teachers or school administration should always give certificates and incentives to encourage parents to attend school activities. Parents should make way or give time to attend school activities because this has an impact to their children’s academic performance. To develop harmonious parent- teacher relationship, the parent should attend school activities regularly or as often as needed. If parents are really concern about their children academic performance they must give time to attend school activities. They should always enquire about the progress of their children.
