ADEQUACY OF MEDICAL EQUIPMENT, FACILITIES AND SERVICES IN SELECTED INFIRMARY

HOSPITALS IN THE PROVINCE

ABSTRACT

Infirmary hospitals are vital in providing efficient in health care in the community. The efficiency of the staff in delivering excellent healthcare, patient outcomes, and an institutions overall performance all depends on the infirmary hospitals adequate medical equipment, facilities and services. This study delved into the current state of medical equipment, facilities and services in selected infirmary hospitals in the Province of Cavite. The study showed that there is an adequate medical equipment with an overall generated mean of 3.28 and a standard deviation of 0.476 described qualitatively as “Agree”, facilities with an overall general weighted mean of 3.54 and a standard deviation of 0.501 described qualitatively as “Strongly Agree”, and services with an overall general weighted mean of 3.36 with a standard deviation of 0.549 described qualitatively as “Agree” in the selected infirmary hospitals. There were areas that needs improvement especially in ventilation, the use of mechanical fans and improvement of the overall condition of the infrastructure and the addition of X-ray and ultrasound for easier access to results and diagnosis of treatment which can be seen through imaging devices. The F-test shows that <0.05 p-value that means that there is no significant difference in the perceptions of the respondents when they are grouped according to their educational attainment, position and work experience. A Medical Action Plan was designed to achieve the adequacy of medical equipment, facilities and services in infirmary hospitals.
